Milwaukee Bucks rookie AJ ​​Johnson is far from a household name in the United States. The fact that the 19-year-old opted to go the international route rather than play college football in America likely has a lot to do with that.

However, the Bucks have invested heavily in the 6-foot-4 shooting guard after using their 23rd overall pick during the 2024 NBA Draft. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the young man at the moment, with even Bucks icon Brandon Jennings jumping on the hype train.

The Bucks suffered a brutal 115-20 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday, which turned out to be Milwaukee’s fourth straight NBA Summer League defeat. Johnson did have his moments in the game, however, as the rookie finished with 13 points, four rebounds and four assists in 22 minutes of action.

Johnson also hit three triples in the game, one of which caught the attention of Jennings.

“Can’t wait to see this kid in the 414,” Jennings tweeted.

That was a pretty nasty move from Johnson, and Jennings just had to show the young man some love after that.

Johnson won’t be Milwaukee’s savior this upcoming season as they attempt to bounce back after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign. Still, there is a fair amount of hype surrounding the rookie and what he can offer his team.

Jennings is clearly a fan.
