Draymond Green Slams Media’s Thanasis Antetokounmpo ‘Clown’ Story

There’s no denying that Milwaukee Bucks veteran Thanasis Antetokounmpo doesn’t have the greatest reputation in the league. In fact, even some Bucks fans can’t help but poke fun at Giannis Antetokounmpo’s older brother whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green is well aware of the narrative surrounding Thanasis and the former Defensive Player of the Year has made his opinion on the matter very clear.

In a recent episode of his podcast where Green interviewed former Bucks guard Jeff Teague, the conversation led to an honest and in-depth discussion of what Thanasis brings to Milwaukee. Green, for his part, simply had to address Antetokounmpo’s detractors when he gave his opinion on what type of person the Bucks forward is behind the scenes.

“People almost try to paint him as a clown,” Green said. “I’ve really gotten to know the guy. Very, very, very, very solid, good guy. Smart, good guy. I’ve talked to other people who played on teams with him. I’ve never heard anything bad about him as a teammate.”

Teague, who had the chance to play alongside Thanasis during their brief stint together during the Bucks’ 2020-21 championship season, agreed with Green’s thoughts on Antetokounmpo. Teague admitted that he also found the viral Thanasis lowlights clips “super funny,” but the former All-Star also argued that the elder Antetokounmpo truly belongs in the NBA.

“I tell people he can hoop,” Teague said. “He’s not just there because he’s Giannis’ brother. … He’s a great part of that organization. He makes it run. I’m not going to lie. He brings that energy, but he can actually hoop.”
