RIO ARRIBA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – A road project on New Mexico 554 is getting underway this week. It begins Wednesday, July 23.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is partnering with Dustrol Inc. to complete a roadway rehabilitation project on NM 554 in El Rito. The work will extend from mile marker 0 to 21.

Crews will be working six days a week (Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm) and the work is expected to take 20 working days.

One lane will be closed during work hours with a 12-foot width restriction. The speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph.

As always, drivers are expected to use caution in construction areas and obey traffic laws and signs.
