EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Firefighters in East Providence extinguished a house fire Sunday afternoon.

Battalion Chief Joseph DaSilva told 12 News that crews first received reports of a fire in a building on Juniper Street just before 4 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, DaSilva said they saw a heavy fire on the ground floor of the home.

According to DaSilva, no one was in the home at the time.

The cause of this fire is under investigation by the Rhode Island Fire Department.
