TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis responded to President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign ending by attacking Vice President Kamala Harris, who is widely supported as the new Democratic nominee.

“Kamala Harris was complicit in a massive cover-up to hide and deny the fact that Joe Biden was unable to perform the duties of his office,” DeSantis said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “She was also the border czar during the worst border crisis in American history.”

“Democrats are just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis, who once ran as the Republican presidential nominee, said last week he hoped Biden would stay in the race. DeSantis suspended his presidential campaign ahead of the New Hampshire primary and endorsed Donald Trump after failing to gain momentum.

Harris said her intention is to “earn and win” the nomination, while thanking Biden for his “decades of service to our country.”

“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party — and unite our nation — to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda,” Harris said. “We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”
