Nebraska Football Lands Kade Pietrzak, North Dakota’s No. 1 Recruit

The Nebraska American football team has signed the highest-ranked player from North Dakota for the 2025 draft, beating out several other schools.

West Fargo (North Dakota) Sheyenne defenseman Kade Pietrzak confirmed his commitment to Nebraska on Sunday, choosing the Huskers over other front-runners Kansas State, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Pietrzak, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound prospect who was offered a scholarship by Nebraska last September, has long been one of the Huskers’ top targets on the defensive line in 2025. He attended a junior day event in January and returned to campus in June for an official visit ahead of a summer decision.

In addition to official visits to his other top schools, Pietrzak seriously considered Oklahoma, but instead, defensive line coach Terrance Knighton and defensive coordinator Tony White helped Nebraska to a recruiting victory.

Pietrzak has the potential to play both inside and out wide in the future, and he’s already shown a strong pass rushing move and center of balance in his junior film.

Pietrzak’s commitment gives Nebraska’s 2025 recruiting class a huge boost as the third addition to the program’s defensive line and 17th member overall. Nebraska already had a longtime commitment from Omaha North’s Tyson Terry and added Hitchcock (Texas) lineman Malcolm Simpson last month, but missed out on several other defensive line targets over the summer.

Nebraska now has the highest-ranked 2025 recruit from three states within 500 miles: Colorado (Tanner Terch), South Dakota (Shawn Hammerbeck) and North Dakota (Pietrzak).
