NEW YORK (PIX11) – It’s National Ice Cream Day and the weather in New York and New Jersey lends itself to an outdoor ice cream cone.

In the tri-state area, temperatures will be around 80 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday, while parts of New Jersey will see temperatures approach 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Some showers are expected in the afternoon and evening. Humidity will decrease during the day on Sunday and become more pleasant in the afternoon.

The start of the work week will be cooler than last, with temperatures remaining in the low to mid 80s. Thursday will see temperatures rise to near 90 degrees and skies will become stormy again.
