Tennessee Recruiting – Offensive Overview and Update on the 2025 Recruiting Class

The recruiting class of 2025 is approaching a final date of December 4, 2024. The nation’s top prospect will have signed their National Letter of Intent and will no longer be “available.” This means that for most programs, there is still a lot of recruiting work to do before the final horn sounds.

Luckily for the Tennessee Volunteers, it’s mid-July and they’ve already done a lot of their trail work and still have some good news coming up, you’d think. Let’s take a look at the class and give a bit of an update.

Quarterback
The Vols have their man in this class and there was never any doubt about that. When there is a five-star quarterback in the state of Tennessee like George MacIntyre, it would be a shame if he were playing anywhere other than Knoxville. The 6’6 quarterback is the ideal fit for Heupel’s system.

Running back
Justin Baker out of Buford High School in Buford, Georgia is one of the longest-tenured commits in this class and despite his 3-star rating, he’s an extremely balanced back, combining an SEC high school frame with refined vision.

Wide receiver/tight end
With Jaime French still on the market, things could change drastically here, but the Vols have already done a great job at receiver, even if things go the way of the Vols with French. The class is led by recent commit Travis Smith Jr., along with Radarius Jackson out of Memphis, and Joakim Johnson. Jack Van Dorsealer is the only tight end commit in the class at 6’5, 230 pounds.

Offensive line
David Sanders Jr.’s August commitment announcement will change the outlook for this class quite a bit, especially if he were to commit to the Vols. Tennessee currently has three offensive linemen signed in the 2025 class and appears to be competing with Ohio State (the nation’s No. 1 OT) for Sanders’ services. OL coach Glenn Elarbee has done a decent job of getting the Vols in the mix for the nation’s best lineman, now it’s all about finishing.

Tennessee’s 2025 recruiting class:

The Vols are still dealing with a logistical nightmare left over from the Jeremy Pruitt era in Knoxville. The NCAA demanded scholarship cuts during the trial period. I thought the Vols had already been given 12 points before the sanctions were even imposed.
