Arne Slot expects more intensive tour for Liverpool’s US Tour – The Home of Irish Football

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is expecting a significant increase in the intensity of their pre-season preparations as the team heads to the United States next week. The Reds will play friendlies against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United during their tour.

Slot, who is in his first pre-season training session for Liverpool, believes playing against high-level opponents and increasing the frequency of training sessions will improve the squad’s readiness for the coming season.

“The resistance from the teams we play against is huge,” the Dutchman said in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com.

“We try to put our ideas into practice and continue with what we are so good at. Our main goal is to keep the boys fit.”

The tour kicks off on July 27 with a match against Real Betis at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Liverpool play Arsenal at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on July 31, followed by a clash with Manchester United at Williams-Brice Stadium in South Carolina on August 3.

Looking back on the first two weeks of pre-season training, Slot noted that his players were making gradual progress.

“We’ve only been working for two weeks and it takes time to fully implement all of our ideas,” he explains.

“As I said, those who were there from the beginning are still fit. They trained for two weeks and stayed fit during the match, so they are getting fitter.

“But yeah, there are definitely more than a few areas where we need to improve, but that will come with more sessions and it will definitely come with all the guys participating.”

Slot made his comments after Liverpool lost 1-0 to Preston North End in a closed friendly at the AXA Training Centre.
