    Woman wins $1 million prize; K-9 officer suspended

    A judge has postponed oral arguments in the $3.5 million dispute between the Somerset Board of Selectman and Brayton Point LLC.

    City taxpayers will have no say in how Fall River pays for its share of the new, nearly $300 million Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School after the City Council voted in November not to put the issue on the ballot.

    Jean Revil, 67, of Dartmouth, was killed Wednesday when a My Brother’s Keeper Christian charity vehicle struck her and a 64-year-old Bristol, Rhode Island, man on Joseph Drive in Fall River, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office. The DA’s office said the driver was a Taunton woman but did not identify her. Here is the information the DA’s office shared as of this writing.

    Fall River resident Ida Reis is the winner of a $1 million Powerball prize.

    According to the Massachusetts Lottery website, she bought the ticket on July 10 at a store in Fall River’s South End.

    Fall River Police K-9 Officer Suspended, Charged with Domestic Violence and Harassment

    Marc Correia, 32, a K-9 officer with the Fall River Police Department, has been suspended after being arrested on several domestic battery charges and improperly storing his city-issued firearms.

    He is accused of witness intimidation, unlawfully storing a large firearm in the vicinity of a minor and assaulting a family member.

    Fall River Police Chief Paul Gauvin confirmed that Correia is on administrative leave with pay.
