GARDEN CITY — A 13-year-old drowned in Bear Lake, the Bear Lake County, Idaho, sheriff’s office reported Saturday.

At 5:56 p.m., the sheriff’s office received multiple calls about a missing girl on the east shore of Bear Lake. Marines and other responders in boats searched the area.

The missing girl was found and received medical treatment, but was pronounced dead at 9pm on Saturday evening.

The girl’s name has not yet been released while her family is being notified, officials said.

The Bear Lake County Sheriff’s Office offered condolences to the family and thanked all first responders, and stressed the “importance of life jackets when participating in water activities,” the office said.
