SALISBURY — Motorists should be aware that construction on the Airport Road bridge over Grants Creek will require a detour for the next several months.

Senator Carl Ford’s office issued a press release stating that N.C. Department of Transportation contractor NJR Group will begin replacing the bridge Monday. As a result, Airport Road will be closed to through traffic beginning at 9 a.m. that morning.

The detour route is as follows: US Hwy. 29 to Rowan Mill Road to NC Hwy. 150.

The operation is expected to be completed by the end of November. Attempts to reach NCDOT and the contractor for comment were unsuccessful.
