WATCH: 2020 Golfer of the Year and Viera High School graduate Bri Gabe talks to Friday Night Locker Room’s Steve Wilson

Now in Nashville, Tennessee, where he is working on a breakthrough in the music industry

WATCH: Bri Gabe, Viera High School’s 2020 Breakfast of Champions Girls Golfer of the Year, sits down with Steve Wilson of the Friday Night Locker Room. After graduating from Viera High School, two years of golf at Daytona State, and two years of golf at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, Gabe earned her bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2024 and is now pursuing a career in the music industry.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Bri Gabe, Viera High School’s 2020 Breakfast of Champions Girls Golfer of the Year. After two years of golfing at Daytona State College and two years of golfing at Belmont University, a private Christian school, in Nashville, Tennessee, Gabe will receive her bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2024.

Gabe had four successful years both in the classroom and on the golf course. Now, aside from teaching golf to young girls, she has put her golf clubs away and is ready to move on to her true passion, music.

There is no better place for someone looking to get into the music industry than her current hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Gabe is no stranger to the music world, having written her first song at the age of nine!

Bri Gabe, the 2020 Breakfast of Champions Girls Golfer of the Year from Viera High School, recently graduated from Belmont University, a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee. She currently lives in Nashville and is trying to break into the music industry.

I asked her to tell me about the beginning of her singing/songwriting career. She laughed and told me that when she was nine years old and she was in the car, she was singing along to the radio. Her sister said, “We should turn the radio down, Bri can really sing!” That’s about the time her parents realized she could sing, so they put her in the choir, and the rest, as they say, is history!”

I asked Gabe about her songwriting and she told me, “I started writing music when I was about eight or nine years old. I just fell in love with it. I really love telling stories.”

She performs locally in Nashville and told me, “I made a lot of friends (at Daytona State College), so my band here is all people I met at Daytona State, which is really cool.”

Gabe talked about the challenges of balancing golf and music over the past four years. But she clearly did well. Gabe studied Music Production Technology at Daytona State College and graduated from Belmont University with a major in Audio Engineering Technology and a minor in Music Business.

Gabe now goes by the name Bri Aspen, Aspen is her middle name. You can follow Gabe on Instagram, Tik Tok and Spotify Music Apple under the name Bri Aspen.

Everyone knows that the music industry is a tough nut to crack. But if Bri Gabe approaches the music industry with enthusiasm and effort, like she did with her golf game, she has an above average chance of success. Remember the name Bri Aspen. She’s going places!
