WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Supporters of former President Donald Trump held a rally outside a New England for Trump store in Warwick on Saturday.

The rally took place on Post Road and was organized by a group called the Rhode Island Freedom Fighters.

This came a week after an assassination attempt took place at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania last Saturday.

Attendees told 12 News that last week’s events have united the Republican Party.

“I think it’s a unity of cohesion for everybody,” said Steven Corvi, who was at the rally and is a Republican candidate this year for Rhode Island’s 2nd Congressional District. “It’s not just the fact that it was an attempt to assassinate a Republican, but it’s (an) attempt to assassinate our American way of life and I think people across the country need to come together on that issue.”

Supporters of the former president lined the street outside the store, waving flags with slogans such as “Make America Great Again” and “Trump 2024.”

The meeting organizer said the group will meet every Saturday until Election Day.
