La Nube offers affordable memberships compared to their Texas counterparts

Memberships to La Nube, the children’s museum and science center in El Paso, are now available and start at $112 for an annual pass.

The Downtown building, which has the architectural shape of a cloud, will open on Saturday, August 10.

La Nube was funded by the city’s 2012 quality bond and is a public-private partnership between the El Paso Community Foundation and other community stakeholders, its website says.

There are different memberships for families.

A basic membership card for one adult and one child costs $112, a premium card for two adults and two children costs $224, and the ‘abuelos card’ costs $264 for two adults aged 55 and over, plus four children.

In addition to unlimited visits for a year, you will also benefit from exclusive members-only events, 10% discounts in the gift shop and on birthday parties, and a members-only e-newsletter.

La Nube prices compared to Doseum, Thinkery Austin

Erica Salas, membership manager at La Nube, said the prices had been carefully chosen to suit everyone’s budget.

“We offer affordable prices for single tickets and memberships, along with special rates for grandparents, school groups, active duty military personnel and first responders,” Salas said.

For comparison, annual memberships for other children’s museums in Texas vary.

For example, the Doseum in San Antonio offers a family membership for $180. There is also an add-on option for additional family members for $30 per person.

An unlimited visit for a family of four costs $170 at the Children’s Museum Houston; at Thinkery Austin it costs $190.

Benefits for the museums include discounted prices in souvenir shops, exclusive member benefits, and reduced general admission prices for guests.

Tickets to the Doseum, Children’s Museum Houston, and Thinkery Austin are similar to La Nube, costing an average of $18.

La Nube sells day tickets in July. General admission for children is $14, while adults pay $18. Seniors and military personnel receive a discounted ticket of $16.

La Nube also offers $3 off general admission tickets for individuals and families under the SNAP or WIC programs. A card and matching ID are required.

“Purchasing a La Nube membership is a great investment for families, no matter how big or small they are,” Salas said.

Here’s what else you need to know about La Nube:

Reserve La Nube tickets online

Because the museum expects a high demand after the opening, La Nube will work with tickets with a time slot per hour. Tickets can be purchased online from mid-July. Upon entry, tickets can be scanned on a mobile phone or printed.

Rules for re-entry

Visitors will be given a ‘Discovery band’ to wear on their wrist while inside the building. An entrance ticket gives access to La Nube for the entire day. Discovery bands only give access if worn and intact.

Grab a bite

La Nube will be presenting Little Stars Café, which serves pancakes and chorizo on toast for breakfast or a pizza bagel or salad for lunch. Here is the full menu from Little Stars Café.
