    Stronger dollar led to lower oil prices on Friday

    Crude oil traders are hoping for higher prices as the US trading week begins on Monday, after a $2 per barrel drop was recorded on Friday.

    It was the lowest level for oil since mid-June, thanks to a stronger dollar and a possible ceasefire in Gaza.

    West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures fell $2.69, or 3.3%, to $80.13 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

    Brent crude closed down $2.48, or 2.9%, per barrel at $82.63 on ICE Futures Europe.

    Natural gas prices in August remained flat at $2.13 per 1,000 cubic feet.

    Oklahoma energy stocks had a mixed trading day, with a narrow majority posting losses. Imperium Petroleum had one of the largest declines of 6%.
