  • Memphis woman arrested in Texas for murder and abuse of 2-year-old child

    MEMPHIS, TN—Sharday Bakare was arrested in Glenn Heights, Texas, by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) on charges of murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated child abuse, stemming from the death of a two-year-old boy in Memphis.

    The Memphis Police Department (MPD) initially responded to a 911 call on September 4, 2023, to the 2600 block of Margot Street, where they found the child unresponsive with signs of trauma. Despite being taken to a local hospital, the child later succumbed to his injuries.

    After an extensive investigation, the MPD issued an arrest warrant for Bakare on May 14, 2024. The USMS Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) in Memphis subsequently tracked her to Texas with the assistance of the USMS North Texas Fugitive Task Force.

    Bakare was arrested without incident on June 17. She is currently awaiting extradition to Tennessee to face charges. The combined efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies were instrumental in her capture.

  • Tennessee man faces multiple charges in North Jersey child sex abuse case

    DOVER, NJ— Police have charged Rony Oviedo-Buezo, a 32-year-old man from Nashville, Tennessee, with serious criminal offenses, including aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

    The charges stem from alleged incidents in Dover, where Oviedo-Buezo is accused of performing multiple sex acts on a female child. Details of the case are limited as the investigation is ongoing and authorities are withholding further information at this time.

    Oviedo-Buezo faces two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree attempted aggravated sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested in Tennessee and extradited to New Jersey, where he is currently being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility awaiting trial.

    The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Dover Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, underscoring the cross-state collaboration to pursue the charges.
