NMSP Celebrates Six Months of Notable Public Safety Achievements – Los Alamos Reporter

NMSP PRESS RELEASE

The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) is proud to announce significant accomplishments over the past six months. These accomplishments reflect the tireless dedication and hard work of our officers to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of New Mexico.

Key achievements from January 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024:

  • Arrests: 4,686
  • Arrests for driving under the influence: 655
  • Traffic fines: 82,808 (4,262 for no seat belt)
  • Commercial vehicle inspections: 47,365
  • 234 pounds of methamphetamine seized
  • 259 pounds of fentanyl seized
  • 1 gram of fentanyl powder seized
  • 146 pounds of cocaine seized
  • 80 grams of crack cocaine seized
  • 952 pounds of marijuana seized
  • 98 stolen vehicles recovered
  • 49 firearms seized (9 stolen)
  • 10 murders investigated across the state (9 solved)

These impressive numbers underscore the tireless efforts of NMSP officers who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe. Their proactive measures have resulted in the removal of significant amounts of dangerous drugs and illegal firearms from the streets, ensuring a safer environment for all residents.

New Mexico State Police Chief Troy Weisler commented on the department’s recent successes:

“Over the past six months, we have removed significant amounts of dangerous drugs and weapons from the streets. Our roads are also safer thanks to the high visibility of our officers. We will continue to make a positive impact in every community in New Mexico.”
