On Friday, Sen. Sherrod Brown of Ohio called on President Joe Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race, becoming the fourth Democratic senator to do so. Brown faces a tough re-election campaign in November.

“I’ve heard from Ohioans about jobs, law enforcement, Social Security, Medicare and abortion rights,” Brown said in a statement. “Our focus must be on these critical issues. The president must end his campaign.”

Brown’s announcement follows similar calls from Sen. Jon Tester of Montana, Sen. Martin Heinrich of New Mexico and Sen. Peter Welch of Vermont. More than 30 Democrats in Congress are now seeking a new nominee for the party. Brown will not participate in choosing a new nominee, but believes Biden should finish his term.
