Boerne students now have year-round access to free mental health services through a state program that provides telehealth counseling to Texas school districts. BISD’s director of student support services says the program is meeting a need for the district.

Krista Pomeroy, the district’s director of support services, says schools are always looking for resources to help students in times of crisis or therapeutic needs, but it can be a challenge.

“Most of our local providers are cash only, they don’t accept insurance, or there’s a backlog,” Pomeroy said. “In some cases, there aren’t many providers for children or adolescents.”
