Residents of an apartment in the Vermont Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles had to barricade their apartments after one of the neighbors pointed a gun at a woman Friday night.

It began around 7 p.m. at 1950 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when the suspect knocked on his neighbor’s door. When she looked through her peephole, she saw the male suspect pointing a revolver at her.

She didn’t answer the door and called 911. The suspect and his girlfriend barricaded the exit from her door, forcing her and her seven other neighbors to take shelter. Neighbors said the suspect and his girlfriend continued to walk the halls, banging on everyone’s door.

Los Angeles Police Department officers seized the downstairs, but the suspect and his girlfriend were upstairs.

An LAPD SWAT team was called to the complex after hearing about the situation.
