The 30-year-old right-handed pitcher threw about 57 pitches in a three-inning simulated game at Dodger Stadium on Friday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts seemed pleased with the performance.

“Very good. His stuff was great. He said he felt good. Back was good,” Roberts said.

Glasnow described his back injury as “long back, you just get a little twinge from it. With the break coming up, they thought it was a good idea to take some time off.” He is expected to pitch one more time out of the bullpen before starting next week.

Glasnow is 8-5 with a 3.47 ERA for the Dodgers, who lead the NL West.

One potential concern for the Dodgers is that Glasnow has thrown 109 innings so far this season, close to his all-time high of 120 innings, set last season with Tampa Bay.

Three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw, who has not pitched for the Dodgers this season, made his second rehab start on Friday. He allowed six hits and three runs, all earned, with two strikeouts and no walks for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He struck out 49 in his 67 pitches against Round Rock, Texas.
