Florida man arrested for threats to Trump, Vance

A Florida man has been arrested after he threatened to kill former President Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), Trump’s new vice presidential nominee.

The Jupiter, Florida, police department announced Friday that Michael Wiseman was arrested on suspicion of making a written threat to the perpetrator. Investigation revealed that he had written threats via social media to Trump, Vance and their families.

Police said they were made aware of the threats through “multiple online crime tips and through residents expressing their concerns in person.”

Jupiter police investigated and discovered that he had made threats against Trump, who officially became the Republican Party’s presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention, and against Vance, who was named Trump’s running mate at the convention.

“Threats of bodily harm were also made to members of the Trump and Vance families,” police said.

Jupiter police said they were coordinating the investigation with the Secret Service and the Palm Beach County District Attorney’s Office.

“JPD officers arrested Wiseman without incident,” police said.

The arrest follows Saturday’s assassination attempt on Trump. A gunman reportedly climbed onto a roof at Trump’s Butler, Pa., rally and had a clear view of the former president when he began shooting.

A bullet grazed Trump’s ear. One event attendee was killed and two others were seriously wounded. The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by police.

The assassination attempt took place a few days before the convention.

Hill has asked the Secret Service for comment.
