BRIDGEWATER – Irene Claire (Guerette) Gareri, age 85, of Bridgewater, formerly of Middleborough and West Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

She was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, and was the daughter of the late Joseph & Celina (Ouellette) Guerette. Irene attended schools in Nashua, New Hampshire, graduating from Saint Louie High School in 1957 and Saint Joseph School of Nursing in 1960. She worked for 45 years as a registered nurse at Goddard Hospital, formerly located in Stoughton, and at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. Irene was the youngest child of a large family; she enjoyed hosting family reunions at her home in West Bridgewater, which had a built-in swimming pool. She was very involved in her parish, Saint Ann’s Church in West Bridgewater, and volunteered with the Food Pantry Society of Saint Vincent de Paul in Middleborough. Irene was busy learning family genealogy and vacationed at Newfound Lake, New Hampshire; she enjoyed playing cards and board games. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Gareri; loving mother of Joseph Gareri & wife Lisa of Norwood and James Gareri of Bridgewater; beloved grandmother of Lauren, Joseph & wife Kristen, John and Thomas; beloved sister of the late Raymond, Roger, Albert, Helen, Doris, Joan and Cecille; beloved sister-in-law of Anthony Gareri, Jr. & wife Mildred of Stoughton, Robert Gareri & wife Sharon of Florida, Anthony Sera & wife Catherine of Arizona and the late Pasquale Gareri & surviving wife Joanne Gareri of New Hampshire. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are welcome to attend visiting hours at the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak Street, Middleborough, on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

All are invited to gather at the Ashley Funeral Home in Middleborough on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 9:45 am, followed by Irene’s Mass of Christian Burial at the Parish of Saint Isidore, SACRED HEART CHURCH, 340 Centre Street, Middleborough, at 10:30 am.

The funeral will take place in private.
